I need to tell you something…

I have to tell you something…

I have been holding myself back, holding myself back from relentlessly persuing opportunities because of my ego and this is why.

I’ve achieved a certain level of success with my business and because of that, I felt entitled. Like I didn’t have to do the groundwork and work on my growth continuously.

Dealing with my ego

Dealing with my success and my ego has been challenging.

For example, I wasn’t going to events as an attendee because I felt as though I should have been speaking at the event. Even though attending the event would have allowed me to network with people to eventually speak, my ego got in the way.

I wasn’t allowing myself to show up as a student, rather than as a teacher and I’ve noticed that this has been really detrimental to my growth.

I’m no longer a naive, excited and relentless student willing to do anything it takes. I had become someone who only wanted to teach because I felt the level of success I had achieved meant I couldn’t be seen as a student.

What I’ve come to realise is that we all always have further to go.

Having a sense of entitlement

I know what’s I’ve achieved in my business is something to be proud of, and I know you shouldn’t care what others think and how important it is to learn. For some reason, there was a part of my ego that was telling me that if I were at an event, sitting in the audience with someone who had bought one of my courses, they would think less of me.

Don’t get me wrong, I love meeting my community and spending time with them. I just felt as though I didn’t want anyone else to think less of me for not speaking or hosting the event, for example.

Don’t make my mistakes

By no means do I feel as though I have a sense of entitlement; however, I did fall into the trap of not wanting to look or be perceived a certain way by my audiences.

I noticed this problem because I always preach going out there and doing what you need to do regardless of what people think and in this instance, I wasn’t doing that.

Learn from my mistakes and ask yourself “am I stopping myself from doing things because of the way I think it’s going to be perceived by other people?” If yes, how can you change that?

Be relentless

Becoming relentless in the pursuit of your dreams is what’s going to get you through the fear.

Stop worrying about what others think about you. Whether you’re worried about looking like a beginner, or about getting rejected – we all have to start somewhere, we all get rejected, it’s apart of the process.

Whatever it is that is scaring you right now, know it’s pushing through that fear that is going to get you where you want to go.

It’s always the things that you’re the most scared of or that you’re resisting that is going to take you to the next level.
