healthy habits to add to your morning routine

Whether you’re new to side hustling, or well and truly embedded in this beautiful, chaotic world, it’s likely you’ve heard of the importance of a good morning routine. The most successful days start with a positive morning; putting you in the perfect headspace and giving the right energy for the day ahead.

If you’re juggling a side hustle, it’s likely your day is full to the brim right from the minute you get up, until you go to bed; perhaps your health and wellbeing has been neglected for a long time or you’re struggling to prioritise it.

Let me ask you, what good is it building a successful career if you’re not well enough to enjoy it?

This is why your health needs to be a priority. But, I understand you’ve already got a busy busy busy day, so, why not add any of these simple healthy habits into your morning routine to make health a priority without sacrificing time spent on your side hustle.

Have a glass of water as soon as you wake up

Put a glass of water next to your bed before you go to sleep so it’s easy to drink first thing in the morning. Your body is generally dehydrated after a night’s sleep and it’s important to hydrate it as soon as you can.

Try to avoid your phone when you first wake up

I say ‘try’ because we’re all human and sometimes, we just have to catch up on emails or social media but where possible, leave the phone alone while you go about your usual morning routine.

Give your brain a break, you’ve just woken up and this is the time you are most vulnerable. What you see in the morning can set the tone for your whole day.

Meditate or practice mindfulness

If you’re not stretching every day, you’re crazy girl!

Find a way to be alone with your thoughts and be present. Take some time to assess how your mind and body is feeling – this way you’ll know how to treat yourself over the course of the day. You can also add this to your journaling, if that is part of your morning routine.

Get up earlier than you have to.

Being rushed in the morning can make you feel like your whole day is running behind.

Set your alarm earlier than you have to, try 15 minutes, and see the difference it makes to your morning. This will allow you to slow down and ease into your day. This made a huge difference to my days, especially those jam-packed days.

Stretch or exercise, or both.

Stretching is a really good way to gently wake up your body and both stretching and exercising is really good for releasing tension. What better way to start your day than to be free of stress and tension. It can be as simple as a 5 minute morning flexibility routine or a 10 minute walk. Your body will love you for it.

Start adding these into your morning routine and slay the day like the fabulous game changer you are!
