8 Lessons I Have Learned About Online Business

Today’s blog is going to be like a mixed bag of advice for anyone who is trying to build their own personal brand or business.

Everyone is always looking for the secret key to success, but here’s the thing, business is extremely subjective, it’s malleable. No one is going to achieve it the exact same way. There is no one single strategy or code to success.

Your journey is going to look completely different from anyone else’s. You have to find influences you can look up to, follow your intuition, and be ok with making mistakes.

And, hopefully, the 8 lessons I’m sharing with you today will allow you to get off of the right foot, and take that next leap towards your dreams!

Self-belief is the fuel that is going to skyrocket you to your goals.

1) There is no secret key to success

I’ve had a lot of people say to me lately that they feel like they’re missing something.

Here’s the thing, business is very simple. I teach the very simple elements to a successful business in my Simply Business program (which is coming back very soon so make sure to get on the waitlist!) but I’m going to let you in on the secret….

You need to build an audience and sell them something that they need. That’s it. When you have a group of people who know, like, and trust you and are struggling with the problem that your business solves, and you are actively communicating to them that you have that solution….that will build a successful business.

Show up consistently for your audience and sell them what they need…that’s the secret.

2) No strategy will outweigh a lack of self-belief

I just think that self-belief is the fuel that is going to skyrocket you to your goals. You need to believe in yourself.

Because 2 people doing the exact same thing could have completely different outcomes if one of them is lacking self-belief. Why? Because it is inevitable that that person succumbs to self-sabotage and self-doubt. If you don’t believe in yourself, you will never do the things you need to do to make your dreams happen.

3) People are going to forget about you

The reality is that, even if you have 1000 true fans, if you stop showing up…they’re going to go somewhere else. This is why it’s so important to show up, lovely. People want to know you care…that you’re enthusiastic about what you’re doing…that they can trust that you’ll be there for them. Consistency is key!

Every micro action you take, is taking you one step closer to your goals so you’ve got to develop a system that works for you and commit to sticking to it. Do what you have to do to stay front of mind for your audience.

4) Selling is everything

If you want to have a successful business that makes money, you have to get comfortable with selling. Top secret tip: the more you work on your self-belief, the easier it gets to sell…more than that, the more it feels good. You have to get comfortable with doing this for yourself and for your products/services.

5) You can’t do this alone

I know that when you first start your business it’s not likely that you’ll be able to hire a full team. But, something I’ve realised is that I really thrive in communities. Most people do.

So, if you can’t hire a team just yet, look for other ways that you can surround yourself with a community. Maybe you can hire a coach or join a mastermind. Maybe you can build your own! No matter what it is, find a space where you can focus on connection and share your highs and lows with other people. It will be a game-changer I promise.

6) First impressions count

With the state of online entrepreneurship today and the amount of competition there is, people have really begun to gravitate towards vibes. In other words, you have to get your branding right. With so much noise these days you really have to create a sense of familiarity for your audience as soon as they land on your content. Whether that’s your website or your social media platforms, your branding is incredibly important. So take the time to be intentional with the experience you want your audience to have and how you want them to feel when they come across it.

7) Be resourceful

Resourcefulness is one of the most important traits of a successful entrepreneur. If you don’t have the tendency to go off and learn things on your own, that is something you need to work on. Get curious and seek the answers that you need. You can’t just sit around and wait for someone to come around and give you all the answers.

8) It’s not good enough just to be good, you have to be great

People have world class dreams these days, with a mediocre work ethic. Now, I am definitely not someone who abides by hustle culture, but it’s more so the resilience to show up and do the thing to become an industry leader that’s lacking. You need to become incredibly self-aware. If you have the vision of becoming the next Oprah…you need to put in the work to become that level of yourself…to MASTER what you do.
