1) MONTHLY PROJECT PLANNING + PLANNING MY CALENDAR IN ADVANCE
I know this seems a little bit basic, but this isn’t always something I did. Instead of planning my month in advance, I would often just plan as I went, whether that be for the week or the day.
Now, at the beginning of every month, I sit down for a couple of hours and I plan out everything: my personal life, my content, my group programs, and my business task. Ultimately, I plan out every single minute detail of everything I want to achieve in business and in life.
Once you know what you have to do, you schedule it.
When you plan and schedule everything you want to do, it leaves no more room for questioning or procrastinating. You know what you need to do and when.
2) ORGANISED MY STUFF (CABLES, HAIR TIES)
This seems like a simple step, but you have no idea how much easier life is when everything has a place.
I used to be so disorganized that I would spend so much time looking for my keys, looking for the lids to containers, looking for a hair tyes, instead of doing the things that actually matter.
Pick a spot for your things to go and train yourself to put them back when you’re done with them.
Because organizing your stuff, once it’s done, makes your life so much easier and so much less stressful.
3) RESTOCKING & SPARES ON HAND
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Whether it’s an extra body wash or cooking oil, having backups of the things you regularly use is another thing that will save you so much time and energy.
4) OVERESTIMATING TASK TIMES
For instance, filming a video for YouTube might take me about 20 minutes but, in my calendar, I would probably allot around 30 mins (plus the time it takes to set up).
It’s tempting to block every minute in your calendar with “productive” tasks, but I have found that focusing your energy on 3-4 things a day and giving those tasks way more time than they actually need is going to leave more room for life.
People are going to distract you, life is going to happen, and overestimating the time any single one task will take makes room for those things.
5) DAY FOCUSES
Set a focus or theme for each day of your week.
For instance, rather than have my coaching calls spread out across the week, I only coach on Mondays and Tuesdays. So, on those days I am Erin the Coach and, then on Wednesdays, I am Erin the YouTuber, and so on and so forth.
This allows me to focus on the task I’m in, without having to worry about anything else (because it all has its place in my week).
It’s going to be different for everyone and their particular business, but as much as you can try and set it up so that you don’t have to switch between tasks and projects from day to day.
6) THE SET-UP TECHNIQUE
This could look like meal prepping and picking out what you’re going to wear throughout the week.
For me, it looks like setting up the camera and everything I need to film a video ahead of time.
Breaking tasks down a little bit can make them seem so much more approachable and maybe even, in some circumstances, less draining.
7) CHANGE YOUR MINDSET
