Networking and Finding Mentors with Ali Adey

In today’s chat, I’m speaking to the founder of SheMentors, Ali Adey who has an absolutely amazing vision and passion for networking, mentoring, building relationships and tribe.

Ali Adi featured in Country Road #ToNurture campaign for Mother’s Day 2019.

What is SheMentors?

SheMentors is an amazing community of women in business, based in Melbourne. It’s a meetup group connecting women in business that Ali started in February 2017.

SheMentors was born after feeling Ali felt increasingly frustrated by the lack of female leaders in Australia. As there were only 9 female CEOs in Australia’s Top 200 companies and disheartened to read about the Gender Pay Gap.

It’s my mission to connect, support and empower as many women as possible through events and a Members’ Club.

“We celebrate the successes – and failures – of our businesses; discuss the challenges women face in the workplace and get tips and advice from Australia’s best female entrepreneurs and leaders.” – Ali Adey

With some amazing female speakers that discuss dealing with imposter syndrome, lack of confidence in the workplace, how to negotiate to ask for things like a pay rise, personal branding and so many more diverse topics about being women in business.

Cultivating an amazing community of women who want to help each other succeed and that’s a beautiful thing to see.

How To Build Your Network

Reaching out is easily done on LinkedIn or any other platform.

Start by finding people within your niche that you love and respect. Reach out to them with a personalised note and let them know you ‘re loving something about their business and what they’re doing.

Avoid generic messages and show a little bit of vulnerability because people want to help each other. Let them know why you love their work, what you might be struggling with and how you think they could help you – people love to give back.
